Professor emeritus Turid Hagene, born 1945, has worked with Development Studies at Oslo and Akershus University College, Norway, since 1994. She has done research in Nicaragua and Mexico, exploring issues of love and gender, international cooperation, democracy and participation, elections, and political clientelism. She holds a PhD in Contemporary History, emphasizing ethnographic methods. She has recently published in Latin American Politics and Society, Nueva Antropología, European Review of Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and Political Geography. She has published two books (2008).
