Vidal Romero Vidal Romero Vidal Romero es Jefe del Departamento de Ciencia Política del ITAM. Es Doctor en Ciencia Política por la Universidad de Stanford. Su investigación actual se centra en analizar las condiciones bajo las cuales tanto el Estado como las organizaciones criminales logran penetrar a la sociedad, y sobre las condiciones que permiten al Estado imponer el orden al nivel local. Su investigación ha sido publicada en distintos journals académicos y volúmenes editados. Fue profesor visitante en la Universidad de Stanford. Ha participado en distintos proyectos de investigación con el Banco Mundial, el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo, la Presidencia de la República de México, y el Wilson Center.

Manuel Vogt vogtma Manuel Vogt holds a Ph.D. in political science from ETH Zürich and is currently a visiting post-doctoral research associate in the Department of Politics at Princeton University. His research interests include ethnic conflict, (post-conflict) democratization, and Latin American and African politics. He has conducted field research in Guatemala, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, and Gabon, and his academic publications have appeared or are forthcoming in International Studies Quarterly, the Journal of Conflict Resolution, and Latin American Politics and Society.

William Barndt wbarndt Will Barndt is Assistant Professor of Political Studies at Pitzer College, a member of The Claremont Colleges. He received his PhD in Politics from Princeton University. His book manuscript, "Democracy for Sale: Corporation-Based Parties and the New Conservative Politics in the Americas," demonstrates how particular business conglomerates are constructing their own parties and party factions throughout much of the western hemisphere. Barndt's research has been published in World Politics, Latin American Politics and Society, Journal of Politics in Latin America, and various edited volumes.

She has completed a PhD in Political and Social Sciences at the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona, Spain) and holds a degree in Political Science and in Social Communication Science, both from the University of Buenos Aires. Woodard is the author of A Place in Politics: São Paulo, Brazil, from Seigneurial Republicanism to Regionalist Revolt (Duke University Press, 2009), as well as of articles published in the Hispanic American Historical Review, International History Review, Journal of Latin American Studies, Journal of World History, and Luso-Brazilian Review. He is currently completing a book-length study of the history of U.S.-style consumerism in twentieth-century Brazil.
